(Keep in mind that many of these videos were made when I first got the prototype amp working, in the winter of 2022; but since then, the circuit has been continually evolving and the sound of the amp is rather different by now -- I hope, better, but certainly at least, different.  Hopefully I'll be able to post some fresh videos soon, perhaps including some use of this amp in real musical recordings, not just my raunchy test-the-amp playing!  I built it to use it.)

I'm posting rough copies of the schematics again (just photos), including I think a few minor changes and corrections over the "nicer" copies posted a while ago.  Also, for the four pages comprising the preamp section, I have now made layout diagrams: i.e., slightly re-factored schematics which more clearly suggest how the circuit board and wiring will be laid out.

quick-start guide for the version-1 prototype

McGrath Mini Quick Start Plug guitar cable and power cable into the back. Flip all the switches into the "on" or up positions, except for the fx switch: keep this one down. (back view) 5 switches on, 1 switch off ( fx ). Since this is a tube amp, you'll have to wait a bit for the tubes to warm up, before you can get any sound (around 15-30 seconds).  When the amp is warmed up, the power LED changes from red to purple. Start with all the knobs pointing straight up ("12-oclock position"), except vol : start with this at minimum (full CCW). (front view) Strum a chord on the guitar while gradually turning up vol  until the volume is good. The most important knobs other than vol , in setting the tone of the amp, are the two  gain  knobs.  Experiment with these.  More gain leads to "dirty" or distorted tones; reduce gain for "clean" tones.
