quick-start guide for the version-1 prototype

Since this is a tube amp, you'll have to wait a bit for the tubes to warm up, before you can get any sound (around 15-30 seconds).  When the amp is warmed up, the power LED changes from red to purple. Start with all the knobs pointing straight up ("12-oclock position"), except vol : start with this at minimum (full CCW). (front view) Strum a chord on the guitar while gradually turning up vol  until the volume is good. The most important knobs other than vol , in setting the tone of the amp, are the two  gain  knobs.  Experiment with these.  More gain leads to "dirty" or distorted tones; reduce gain for "clean" tones.
