quick-start guide for the version-1 prototype

McGrath Mini Quick Start

Plug guitar cable and power cable into the back.

Flip all the switches into the "on" or up positions, except for the fx switch: keep this one down.

5 switches on, 1 switch off (fx).

Since this is a tube amp, you'll have to wait a bit for the tubes to warm up, before you can get any sound (around 15-30 seconds).  When the amp is warmed up, the power LED changes from red to purple.

Start with all the knobs pointing straight up ("12-oclock position"), except vol: start with this at minimum (full CCW).

(front view)

Strum a chord on the guitar while gradually turning up vol until the volume is good.

The most important knobs other than vol, in setting the tone of the amp, are the two gain knobs.  Experiment with these.  More gain leads to "dirty" or distorted tones; reduce gain for "clean" tones.

Dirty tone:

Semi-clean tone:

Experiment with the rest of the knobs, and with different settings for the switches on the back; there are no "wrong" settings if you like what you're hearing.
